Two Hour Itinerary

Only have an hour or two?  Need a break between overseas flights at LAX? Here are three different options for a short visit. Stop first at the Marina del Rey Visitors Center for maps and recommendations.

Burton W. Chace Park and Waterside, Marina del Rey

Make your way to Burton W. Chace Park located at the end of Mindanao Way. This is a 10-acre green oasis with fantastic panoramic views.  Walk to the top of the grassy knoll for the best look at the marina which surrounds you. It’s breezy and relaxing, and a good place to take photos. Come back down Mindanao Way, cross Admiralty Way, and stroll through the boutiques at Waterside Shopping Center. If you have time, it’s a perfect place to grab lunch; there are plenty of restaurants and cafes there.

Fisherman’s Village

This is the local center of recreational boating and water sports, and a good place to walk along the waterfront, see boats in the harbor, and get a bite to eat. It’s busier and more interesting on the weekends when there are free outdoor concerts near the lighthouse in the afternoon. Check to see if the 45-minute narrated tours (seasonal) are operating – it’s a good introduction to the marina. There are several good restaurants and souvenir shops there, too.

Venice Pier and the “End of Washington” Boulevard

The “End of Washington Boulevard” actually begins at the venerable Venice Pier, where you can walk all the way to its end for great views of the shoreline, beach and surfers, depending upon the waves. This tiny beachfront district just two blocks long offers beach shops, cafes, bars, bike rentals, and people and pet watching.
