OUTDOOR RECREATION - BEACHES & PARKS
-
Burton W. Chace Park
This beautiful 10-acre park is a crown jewel of the Marina. Jutting out into the main channel, it offers one of the best vista points, and is perfect for a morning jog or leisurely picnic or BBQ. It’s also a great place to just sit back and watch the sunset. -
Dockweiler State Beach
Just south of Playa del Rey, this inviting beach features three miles of shoreline including generous picnic areas, fire pits, RV park and over 2,000 parking spaces. The wide white sand beach lies beneath the takeoff path of LAX for plane-watching. -
Malibu Beach
Head up Pacific Coast Highway 8 miles north, to the alluring locale made famous by song and TV. Longboard at legendary Surfrider Beach, fish off of Malibu Pier, explore acres of wetlands, stretch out on a lovely beach–plus view the beautiful mansions. -
Marina Beach
This peaceful 12-acre lagoon is easy walking distance from most of the Marina’s hotels. Staffed by lifeguards, the beach has playground equipment, sheltered picnic tables and no surf, making it ideal for families – and deserving of its nickname, Mother’s Beach. -
Playa del Rey Beach
Just 2-1/2 miles to the south, discover this quiet, quaint seaside town. Its broad, low-key beach is a great choice for sunning, plus there are nearby cafes, taverns and boutiques. A short bike ride from the Marina, you can spend a few hours or the whole day there. -
Santa Monica Beach
Santa Monica's spacious beach is adorned with a made-for-fun pier. In addition to the 1920s carousel, there’s also a solar-powered Ferris wheel, roller coaster and more. Only 3 miles north of Marina del Rey, it’s a hot-spot for splashing and sunning, too. -
Venice Beach
Point your toes north, and you're in Venice Beach, famous for its Ocean Front Walk bursting with lively street performers, vendors and cafes. Enjoy a one-of-a-kind day, taking in the carnival-like atmosphere, renting a bike or blades, and kicking back on the sand.
