Marina “MOTHER’S” Beach

You’ll find covered picnic tables, restrooms, a playground, and seasonal lifeguards. Check water conditions before going to be sure swimming is a good option, or go kayaking or paddleboarding to explore the rest of the Marina. This beach is the best spot to learn how to paddleboard because of its calm waters.

Playa del Rey/Dockweiler State Beach

Thanks to the Marvin Braude Coastal Bike Trail, you can easily access even more of the best beaches near Los Angeles. Just to the south of Marina Beach is Playa del Rey, perfect for a relaxing getaway. This part of Dockweiler State Beach is a great place to enjoy bonfires, boutiques, cafes, and taverns.

Marina Peninsula

Just to the north of the Marina del Rey harbor and south of Venice Beach is the quiet Marina Peninsula. You can access the beach from the Ocean Front Walk or park on the north side of the harbor.

Venice Beach

Venice Beach is a half-mile north of Marina del Rey and features the Ocean Front Walk, which is packed with shopping and entertainment options. You can rent bikes and surfboards, visit a skate park, check out the vendors, and dine in cafes. You are also likely to catch a street performer or two along the way.

Santa Monica Beach

If you keep heading north along the Marvin Braude Coastal Bike Trail a few miles past Venice Beach, you’ll find Santa Monica. You can even rent a bike at Venice Pier for the trip, then enjoy the amusement park before heading back.
