Enjoy this magical season in L.A.’s Marina with our signature winter events. The 2017 holiday season kicks off in Marina del Rey on December 9 with the return of the Snow Wonder family festival and the Holiday Boat Parade. New this year, Burton Chace Park will be aglow in holiday lights every night from December 9 through New Year’s Eve.

December 9-31

Marina Lights

New for 2017, MARINA LIGHTS will cast a festive glow upon Burton Chace Park nightly from December 9 through New Year’s Eve, 4–10 p.m. Make it a fun family outing – have dinner at one of the Marina’s waterfront restaurants, then walk around the park and enjoy the light displays. On Saturday evenings, a live caroling performance and an outdoor holiday movie screening offer entertainment for the whole family. On December 16, The Voices of Christmas perform a capella style from 4 to 6 p.m.; Home Alone is that night’s film and starts at 6 p.m. On December 23, The Wonderelles perform holiday songs in a '50s rock style; A Christmas Story starts at 6 p.m. On December 30, The Voices of Christmas return from 4 to 6 p.m.; It’s a Wonderful Life starts at 6 p.m. Free admission!

Snow Wonder

Burton Chace Park is transformed into a winter wonderland with over 60 tons of real snow, used to make a sledding hill and snow-kissed pine forest. Sledding discs are provided for your use, or bring your own. Also enjoy crafts, music, face painting, and food trucks. The Wonderelles will perform Christmas songs in a '50s-rock style from 2 to 4 p.m. Admission is free, but all participants (all ages) must first sign a waiver and exchange it at the registration tent for a free wristband. Boat Parade

Award-winning journalist Carol Costello is the grand marshal of the 55th Annual Marina del Rey Holiday Boat Parade. This year's theme is “Let’s Dance.” The popular viewing places are Burton Chace Park and Fisherman's Village. Download a Marina map below for parking lot information.

10 a.m.-1 p.m.

Killer Rides Car Show & Toy Drive

Killer Shrimp Restaurant & Bar hosts this charity event and car show in its parking lot on December 10, 10 a.m.-1 p.m. Free to show your car and free to attend! Come ogle the rows hot rods, motorcycles, and muscle cars on display. Bring an unwrapped toy to be donated to the L.A. County Fire Department.

New Year's Eve Celebration

Head to Burton Chace Park or Fisherman's Village to enjoy the annual fireworks and screening of CNN’s Times Square live broadcast – join the countdown and celebration at 9 p.m. and at midnight. New this year, Burton Chace Park is hosting a family-friendly Glow Party with face painting, music, dancing, food trucks, and more. Free admission.

Holiday Boat Parade

Burton Chace Park and Fisherman’s Village are the best places to watch the trail of lighted boats cruise the main channel. A 10-minute fireworks show at 5:55 p.m. will announce the start of the parade.

Snow Wonder

Sixty tons of snow are trucked in to Burton Chace Park to make a sledding hill and snow-play area. Pummel your pals with balls of snow – then take cover behind a Christmas tree!

New Year’s Eve

Burton Chace Park is the staging ground for the Marina’s NYE celebration. New this year is a Glow Party at 7 p.m. with activities the whole family will enjoy. Two fireworks shows follow, timed with the east and west coast countdowns to 2018.


Marina Lights and Snow Wonder take place at Burton Chace Park. You can also watch the Holiday Boat Parade and New Year's Eve fireworks at the park, as well as Fisherman's Village. Ride the free weekend beach shuttle to Burton Chace Park. Service runs on a loop between Playa Vista, the Marina, and the Venice Pier with shuttles arriving approximately every 30 minutes. Service runs 10 a.m.–10 p.m. Fridays–Saturdays, and 10 a.m.–8 p.m. Sundays and holidays. Click here for a map.


The Free Ride offers free daily transportation in the Marina from noon till 9 p.m. If you see a car, wave it down. The Marina has 12 public parking lots. Click here for a map. Lots at shopping centers and restaurants are reserved for patrons and are patrolled, especially during events – you will be towed.
