Marina del Rey’s Free Marina Movie Nights

Every saturday, 8 p.m. at burton chace park

Summertime in L.A.’s Marina means gathering your friends for a picnic and watching movies on the big screen under the stars. The Los Angeles County Department of Beaches & Harbors presents Marina del Rey Movie Nights in Burton Chace Park! Movies start at 8 p.m. but arrive by 7 to pick out your spot on the lawn. Free admission! In addition to a picnic dinner, bring a blanket or some low-profile beach chairs and enjoy this popular event series. The 10-acre park is surrounded on three sides by the water, so come early for picture taking and to stroll the perimeter walking path.

SEATING

Seating is festival style on the park lawn and available on a first come, first served basis. Bring your own blanket or a low-back beach chair. Tents and umbrellas are not allowed. While there is no reserved seating, wheelchair users are welcome to sit along the concrete path.

Eventbrite tickets are not required for concert admission, and having a ticket does not guarantee entry into the park (the park will close if it reaches capacity). Your RSVP simply helps concert organizers anticipate the crowd size for staffing purposes.

Marina Movie Nights

GETTING HERE

WATERBUS

The WaterBus operates from 12 p.m. till 10 p.m. on movie nights through September 5. These boats pick up from 8 stops in the Marina and cost just $1 each trip. Since parking lots closest to the park fill quickly, consider parking at a farther lot and taking the WaterBus to the park. View flyer.

BEACH SHUTTLE

The Beach Shuttle offers free transportation on weekends and holidays on a set loop between Playa Vista, Marina del Rey, and the Venice Pier. Enjoy direct drop-offs and pick-ups at the Burton Chace Park entrance on concert nights. Click here for a map.

CIRCUIT

Circuit, formerly Free Ride, provides on-demand transportation around the Marina daily from 12:30 to 9 p.m. If you see one of the cars, just wave down the driver and hop in. The usual 10-15 minute wait for your driver's arrival may be longer at high-traffic events. Or, download the Ride Circuit app to schedule your pick-up. Allow 10-15 minutes for pick-up, especially during summer season. The cost is $3 per person ($9 max) for up to five passengers. Gratuity for the driver is appreciated, but not required. Click here for a flyer with a map of the service area.

UBER/LYFT

Call your rideshare driver to a location away from heavy traffic flow. We recommend finding a safe meeting place with a visible landmark, such as a gas station or restaurant, and do not attempt pickups and drop-offs along the street.
