Marina del Rey’s 4th of July Fireworks

Come to L.A.’s Marina for the best fireworks show on the Westside!

Basics

The fireworks start at 9 p.m. and last 20 minutes. This is a popular event, with visitors traveling to the area from throughout the Southland. Parking is limited and local street closures (see “Road Closures” below) are planned to commence as early as 1 p.m. in some areas. We recommend that you arrive no later than 1 p.m. and stay for the day. See “Getting Here” section below for alternative ways to get around the Marina once you have arrived in town; use these methods for transportation to kayak/paddleboard rentals and other water activities to enjoy while you wait for the show.

Views from the Shore

Enjoy the show with synchronized music at either Burton Chace Park or Fisherman’s Village.

Views from the Water

Hornblower Cruises will offer special July 4 cruises: a brunch excursion and a 3-hour dinner cruise and a 2-hour observation cruise with light bites timed to watch the fireworks. Reserve ASAP at hornblower.com. Alternatively, you can charter a private yacht to get the ultimate close-up view. Find information about companies properly licensed to operate charters in the Marina here.

Parking

Los Angeles County Parking lots charge $7-$15. Click here for a map. This holiday attracts several thousand visitors, so local parking will be scarce, especially after 1 p.m. Parking in restaurant lots and at the Waterside shopping center is allowed only for patrons of those businesses. The Marina Towers (4676 & 4640 Admiralty Way) will allow public parking at $20 per car. See “Getting Here” section below for transportation from parking lots to the main viewing areas.

Street Closures

Law enforcement authorities control street closures in the area. Some areas will close as early as 1 p.m., with the full closure plan implemented by 4 p.m. Please note that road closures may occur earlier at police discretion, usually due to full parking lots. Therefore, if you have dinner reservations or want to be sure you can access the main fireworks viewing areas, we recommend that you arrive in the Marina before 1 p.m. and plan to stay the rest of the day. See “Getting Here” section below for alternative ways to get around the Marina once you have arrived in town. Road closures are lifted when traffic officials determine it is safe to do so – it may be as late as 11:30 p.m. Uber/Lyft will not be allowed inside the closure area; from Burton Chace Park or Fisherman’s Village viewing areas, you will need to walk beyond the closure perimeter at Lincoln Boulevard and Fiji Way to connect with your rideshare.
